It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.....

We decided that we needed to show Spencer what carving pumpkins was all about. We bought 2 pumpkins and went to town. Spencer loved digging out the "guts". We then attempted to mutilate the pumpkins and they actually turned out looking pretty much like we had planned.

Spencer kept asking for a knife so we finally just gave him a dull screwdriver and had him help poke the carved pieces through to the other side. He still somehow managed to smash his finger. He was ok though...

Just the 3 of us. ( it was too late for Carly.)
I already know what you are thinking.....amazing huh?
We have been thinking about going into the pumpkin carving business.
Here is the finished product. Spencer was fasinated by the whole process and he loved blowing out the candles. I sure hope they last until Halloween......

Kelli's Wedding

We just got back from Utah after attending Kelli's wedding. It was fun to see family and get to spend some time with them. It was a short trip, but we're glad we went. It's always nice to be home and sleep in your own bed though. And the airlines finally found our luggage, so everything is getting back to normal.

Hiking and stuff...

Kyle got off of work early Friday so we decided to head up the Sandia Mountains for a fun little trip. We hiked around a little bit and had some snow fights. (Spencer loved throwing snowballs.)
Anyway, it was fun to just go do something.
Kyle and Spencer braved the hike up high, while me and Carly stayed down below.
Doesn't she look so funny? Gotta love the headband

Fun Times

Well, we are moved in mostly. We love our house! Anyway, just wanted to share some pictures.

This is Katie (on the right), Kyle's sister. She took first place in the state championship for Tennis doubles. We are really excited for her and proud of her. Now she starts basketball season where she is the starting point guard. (She's awesome at basketball too!)

And this is the sport of naked bed jumping. Spencer is already a champion at it!

Kyle and Spencer had a boys night out last night and went to the UNM vs Wyoming football game. Spencer loved it! They had hotdogs, watched fireworks, and Spencer loved dancing to the band.

We went to a pizza place here called Dions and had a tour of it for Spencer's preschool. He got to say his name over the intercom, helped make pizza, and got this free t-shirt. His favorite part of the whole thing was watching the men throw the pizza dough in the air.

Spencer loves our new backyard.

Just a picture of the football game. The Lobo's lost, but we don't really like them anyway, so it's okay. (Go Utes!)

Moving

We're just having fun packing... doesn't it look like fun? We closed on the house yesterday, so I guess it's official. We get the keys today and we're excited to get going. Mom and Dad D. and Katie are on their way to come help us. YAY!

Spencer helping us tape boxes... this isn't even half of the boxes- yuck! Moving is kind of crappy.

This is a blackwidow that I killed a couple days ago... it was in our entryway. We've had quite a few of these things this summer. I hate them!

Carly getting ready for her bath

Carly in the bath. She's at the stage where she just loves the water. It's so fun to watch her kick and scream. There is nothing better than a baby in the bathtub!

I don't know what Spencer was doing here, but by the look on his face, he was probably up to no good.

Professional photographers here....

Just wanted to post a few pictures we've taken this last week. Nothing too exciting going on in our lives right now, just getting ready for the big move. We finally have all of the paperwork and things done, until we close. Other than that, life is just fine and we're enjoying the end of the summer.

This is a picture of a recent storm that was brewing- there were tornado warnings and everything... it was awesome!

Our cutest daughter ever!

We played photographers today and this one is my favorite picture that we took!

We had a box of our old papers that we were trying to go through, and Spencer decided to take them out and play slip and slide with them... he had a ton of fun! We had a ton of fun cleaning it up...

Home Sweet Home

So, we finally made it back to our house. We took some pictures and a video that you can find the next posting down. Anyway, we still like it and are really excited to have a little extra space. We are keeping busy trying to get everything in order for the closing at the end of September. So, other than that, we're just doing the normal stuff. Spencer starts preschool tomorrow and he is excited. Sunday at church, our Bishop was speaking and Spencer pointed to him and said, "look mom, it's President Hinckley". I tried to explain to Spencer that it was our Bishop, and he would get mad and say "No! It's President Hinckley!" I just dropped it, but inside I was secretly excited that he has been listening to me a little bit.
Carly is not letting us sleep in at all, and since we're sharing a room with her right now, she keeps us up at night with all of her wiggling and kicking the bed. That separate room cannot come fast enough! She is fun though and we still love her, even in our sleepiest states.
Kyle is excited for the new home too. He's been throwing away some things that we don't want to take with us, one of them being our fish. He "disposed" of Moby yesterday by a flushing, which was by my request. Kyle wanted to dispose of him another way... let's just say a blender was involved. So, luckily Moby had a more humane way of departing the world. We kept hoping he would die, but after 2 years, he was still going strong.... Goodbye Moby! So, that's the latest.

Breaking News

This just in... The Christensen Family can now consider themselves homeowners....

Isn't that nuts? We're still soaking it all in. Our realtor called last night at like 9 PM to tell us the good news.
We weren't suppose to find out until Friday, but thank goodness they made a decision and let us know early, I don't
know if my body could have handled another sleepless night. So... we are EXCITED! We will be going through the
whole closing process this month and will close on September 27- moving in that weekend. The pictures of the house are
now off of the internet, so we'll get over there sometime and take some pictures of it to blog. YAY!

Hoping for a change...

So, things in the Christensen household are trying to get exciting...
We put an offer in on a home last night, so we will see what happens.
We are not expecting anything, but are hoping that things will work
out. If we don't get this house, then something better will work out later. It
would just be nice not to have to house hunt anymore. Anyway, we love this house. It
is small, but a newer home and is well taken care of. So we'll see...
Other than that, we are still just hanging out down here in the "Land of enchantment"
(better known to us as the Land of Entrapment...)
And while I am thinking about it, I am going to take a moment to tell our fellow bloggers who have not updated their blog lately, to do so.
We are getting sick of looking at the same old thing, day after day. :) No names mentioned, but
you know who you are!

Trying to get a smile out of Carly to record for posterity, she is a smiley girl,
believe it or not, but just stubborn about smiling for the camera.

I just think this is such a funny picture of Carly, it's half smile-half weird food tasting face...

Spencer has the same goal as his parents... to go to Hawaii again. He makes

a pretty cute hula girl huh!

Spencer loves to finger paint, actually he just loves to

make a mess, but finger painting is legal.

Spencer got a new haircut...I know, not much difference, just shorter... but I

had to bribe him (he could watch a movie on the portable DVD) to do it.

What would parents do without the blessed world of the Bribe?

It's Our Life

We have a household of sickies. It started with Kyle, then moved on to our two kids. As I am typing, Spencer is laying on the floor closing his eyes because his eyes hurt, and he keeps getting up and coming over to remind me every few minutes that "Mom, I am SO sick!" His poor eyes are all red and teary, and if he doesn't cough up a lung, I'll be surprised... and I am holding Carly going on about 8 hours straight because as soon as I put her down, she starts crying, and I just can't stand that sound for very long, it's just so sad. And last night, we all went to bed at a record time - about 8:30, we were all in bed. I am just waiting for me to start feeling that sore throat coming on... well, if there is one good thing about being sick, it's that it reminds us of how good it feels to be healthy!
Spencer and Carly posing for yet another picture

It's amazing that Spencer doesn't hurt himself more often doing stuff like this.

Instead he gets his bruises, and goose eggs from just running into walls when he's not looking.

Carly had her first bite of solid food today, I was trying to distract her from being so needy.

She just looked at me like I was crazy and spit it out.

This is Spencer at the aquarium a few days ago.

Carly after a few tries of eating a spoonful. I don't think she ate any, I think

she just spit it all out.

The latest...

Well, we haven't been doing a ton this last week, just enjoying the time that we have together. We have gone to the zoo a lot, played around at home, etc. Kyle has been busy working and is finally credentialled at the surgery center and can finally scrub in and assist. He loves that part of it! Now, if the credentialling at the hospital would go through... once it does, then all of the paperwork, processing, licensing and stuff will be done. It will be so nice not to have those things to worry about. Spencer is constantly amazing me by the things he says... where did he get this stuff? Kyle and I just laugh at him all of the time. Carly is growing, growing! At her 4 month appointment last Friday, she weighed 14 lbs 14 oz and was 25 1/4 inches long. 85 percentile in both. She's a great baby and every once in awhile we get a laugh out of her. She is smiling all of the time now, which is so much fun! Anyway, that's our life in a nutshell.

Carly is growing up so fast! She is holding her head up so
good already.

Spencer and Dad looking pretty handsome for church

We keep thinking that this hat will fit her, but obviously
it doesn't yet. I just love this picture though.

Spencer loves to dress up in the costumes from our
costume box. Carly just likes watching him.

One of our many trips to the zoo, we've gone twice this week already.
Spencer just loves it and it gives us a chance to get out of the house.
